The trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return begins with McGregor watching footage projected onto a giant screen of the late Sir Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi from the original 1977 Star Wars. Through voice-over narration, McGregor says something that most Star Wars fans have said at one point in their life: “I remember clearly the first time I saw Star Wars.” The trailer then switches to Christensen as he views the original film on the big screen, describing the saga as a “surreal world to be a part of.” The trailer then shifts to behind-the-scenes footage of McGregor and Christensen during the making of the Star Wars prequel trilogy as Christensen describes coming back to the role after so many years as “very meaningful.”

The trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return then shifts focus to the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus series, as Christensen talks about his first day on set and reuniting with McGregor. Series director Deborah Chow then gets her turn in the spotlight, as she emphasizes the responsibility that comes with tackling these characters. The rest of the trailer features extensive behind-the-scenes footage as McGregor describes the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi as “iconic” and actress Moses Ingram tells the camera that the scale of the show “blew her mind.”
The first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi premiered on Disney Plus on May 27th, 2022. Overall, the six-episode series received mostly positive reviews, especially for its performances from McGregor and Christensen. However, some fans and publications were critical of the writing and pacing of the series. Regardless, Obi-Wan Kenobi broke records for Disney Plus and quickly became the most-watched series premiere for the streaming service in its opening weekend. While it has not been renewed for a second season, both the actors and producers behind the series seem very confident that a second season is on the horizon.
Until the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi is announced fans can enjoy this upcoming behind-the-scenes documentary special, which is sure to satisfy longtime Star Wars fans and give viewers more insight into the making of these TV shows. Disney Plus has produced many behind-the-scenes docuseries and specials for their other original programming, including the ongoing anthology docuseries titled Marvel Studios: Assembled, which focuses on the making of Marvel Studios’ TV shows and movies. Disney Plus has also released similar documentary specials for their other Star Wars shows, including The Mandalorian and the spinoff series The Book Of Boba Fett.
