Just before Trump praised OANN, he tweeted about a Fox News poll stating, “From the day I announced I was running for President, I have NEVER had a good @FoxNews Poll. Whoever their Pollster is, they suck…” He went on to lambast Fox analyst Andrew Napolitano and contributor Donna Brazile. A June 17 tweet from Trump similarly read “@FoxNews Polls are always bad for me. They were against Crooked Hillary also. Something weird going on at Fox…” Trump has previously tweeted praise for Fox.
Trump’s praise for OANN and disapproval of Fox News has led to much criticism and mockery on Twitter. Sirius XM’s Dean Obeidallah responded to the Fox tweet, saying, “All Trump has left are the crappy Breitbart online polls and the ones he does in the WH where he asks staffers to pledge loyalty to him.”
Some users likened Trump’s praise for OANN to a juvenile breakup.
Other Twitter users, including Mediaite columnist John Ziegler, pointed out the network’s tendency to share right-wing conspiracy theories.
Trump’s rally in Minneapolis will be at 7 p.m. CDT tonight.
