That translates into the occasional brawls in Manhattan taverns and hockey games. It boiled over during a charity football game in Brooklyn between the country’s largest fire and police departments.

The two sides engaged in a bloody brawl after a cop wiped out a firefighter near the NYPD sideline. That did it. As the saying goes, there were wigs on the green at the ironically named “Fun City Bowl” in Coney Island.

On hand for the dust-up were free agent Jets QB’s Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bryce Petty and Giants RB Shane Vereen. The trio were serving as honorary co-captains for the FDNY. NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton also attended the game but split before the melee started, according to the Post.
