According to a tweet from known leaker kopite7kimi, as spotted by PC Gamer, Nvidia could release its RTX 40-series sometime this summer. The tweet simply mentions “early Q3,” which could put the launch window somewhere in July. Given their reputation for leaking graphics card information, many will likely be intrigued by this latest development. However, it should be pointed out that these details have not been confirmed, or denied, by the company itself.

If it is true, then this would put pressure on the likes of AMD, which initially said it wanted to launch its RDNA 3 GPUs towards the latter parts of this year. In fact, just last month, it was believed that Nvidia would launch its RTX 40 cards in September, so this new date brings it forward by at least a couple of months. Such a sudden release of Ada Lovelace will almost certainly give team red cause to rethink its launch window for its next graphical hardware.
With Nvidia’s RTX 40 series said to be in the testing phase, it seems as though Jensen Huang and co are on the offensive, ensuring that it gets ahead of the competition. This is especially important this time around, as Intel has recently joined the GPU market. While team blue has only just released the laptop versions of its Arc product, and there are speculations of a delay to the desktop variants, it’s still a reason for the likes of Nvidia to make a lot of noise.
However, there is still the ongoing deficit. With Intel’s CEO saying the tech shortages could continue until 2024, it will still likely be a difficult time for anyone looking to purchase a new graphics card, be it from AMD, Nvidia or the newcomers. The next gen is looming ahead, and there’s going to be a lot for these three tech giants to compete for, but it remains to be seen whether team green can get its RTX 40 cards out the door quicker, or even if it can supply enough to meet demand.
