Another day means yet another daily Wordle puzzle. But in order to get in on this viral game, players will first need to learn the rules. Here is a breakdown of the rules of how to play the original, New York Times Games version and a little help with strategy for winning as well.

First, players need to select a winning starting Wordle word, which:
Must be five letters long and a real English word. Must not be an offensive word. Should be filled with common letters like L, S, or T. Should have two vowels. Should not be a previous Wordle answer.
Once a great starting Wordle word has been chosen, players need to type it into the site and press enter. This will cause the letters to change colors.
Green letters are right. Gray letters are wrong. Yellow letters are right but in the wrong position in the word.
Given these clues, players have just five more guesses to get to the right answer. They need to keep trying new words and getting new clues until they either fail or guess the answer correctly. There is only one puzzle per day, and they reset at midnight.
